Local students win top places at recent math competition

Top mathematics high school students from throughout the region competed at the annual Arkansas Council for Teachers of Mathematics’ Southeast Arkansas Mathematics Contest hosted at the University of Arkansas at Monticello on March 4. 

Pictured on the steps of the Science Center are the first, second, third place and Honorable Mention winners in each category. 

Algebra I winners were (bottom row, from left) Dr. Elis of Lakeside HS (teacher), Jeremiah Freeman of Lakeside HS (Algebra I, first place), Jaiden Washington of Lakeside HS (Algebra I, second place), Corrie Kinney of Hamburg HS (Algebra 1, third place) and Kimberly Pearson of Hamburg HS (teacher).   

Algebra II and Geometry winners were (second row, from left) Piper Forrest of Drew Central (Geometry, first place), Natalie Spadoni of White Hall (Algebra II, first place), J’maya Kincade of Lakeside (Geometry, second place), Yuki Lin of White Hall (Algebra II, second place), Jo’laycia Mays of Lakeside (Geometry, third place), Blake Wilson of Drew Central (Algebra II, third place), Thomas Moore of Lakeside (Geometry, Honorable Mention) and Rebecca Dominguez of Drew Central (teacher). 

Trig/Precalculus and Statistics winners were (top row, from left) Kaylie Jester of Monticello (Trig/Precalculus, first place), Jacob Pham of White Hall (Statistics, first place), Kai Lin of White Hall (Trig/Precalculus, second place), Cameron Teague of Monticello (Trig/Precalculus, third place), Isaac Woolley of White Hall (Trig/Precalculus, Honorable Mention) and Holly Robinson of White Hall (teacher).
