Louise Handly Byerly, 72

Louise Handly Byerly, 72, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 5, 1951, in Drew County to the late Hollis Handly and Esil Morrison Handly.

Louise was the wife of 51 years to Elmer Lyod Byerly. They were members of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Louise was a retired school teacher who loved her family. She was an animal lover, a gifted pianist and enjoyed arts and crafts, and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Handly.
She is survived by her husband; her five daughters, Brenda Pittman, Nancy O'Neill (Eddie), and Amanda Huneycutt all of Star City, Katrinia Monroe (David) of White Hall,  and Rebekah Housley (Trevor) of Hector; two sons, Jeff Byerly of Star City, and David Byerly (Sandra) of Baytown, Texas; two nephews, Jerry Handly of Rison, and Jeff Handly of Mississippi; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Star City with Rev. Elmer Byerly and Rev. Jarrod Pettitt officiating. Burial will follow in Drake Cemetery in Star City.
