High cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes and uncontrolled high blood pressure are leading risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but with timely diagnosis, research-based treatment and education, these conditions can be managed.
“Heart disease and stroke remain the leading causes of death for Americans, and addressing Type 2 diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure management is key for better cardiovascular health,” said Howard Haft, M.D., MMM, CPE, FACPE, American Heart Association volunteer; consultant, senior medical advisor and adjunct professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine; and former executive director of the Maryland Primary Care Program with the Maryland Department of Health. “The American Heart Association is pleased to recognize Mainline Health Systems, Inc. for its commitment to managing patient risk factors related to high blood pressure, high cholesterol and Type 2 diabetes.”
“We have been recognized by the State and on the national level with other Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) but these awards are given to any type of health provider, it doesn’t have to be just FQHC’s,” Nichols noted. “This shows that the processes and procedures we have implemented are working. Southeast Arkansas is not the easiest place to achieve these goals. Jenni and the team of nurses and health providers have done a great job staying consistent and following each individual patient.”
“It is wonderful to be recognized for the these that the people on the inside see everyday,”Jeni Barham, Chief Quality/Compliance Officer stated. “We see our health care providers treating patients and we see our staff finding those gaps and working to fill them so that each patient can have a holistic care model. The entire team works to fill specific deficits from transportation to food insecurity. We want the patients to know they don’t have to feel lost, we can help them form a plan. It is possible when you have enough arms wrapped around you.”
