The Monticello Junior Billies hosted the Junior Bobcats from Dumas on Thursday, September 28, in a 8-4A Junior Conference contest.

Dumas would win the opening coin toss and would elect to receive the football to begin the contest. Jude Parke kicked the ball off for the Billies to get the game started with Dumas getting an eight-yard return to begin the contest at their own 15 yard line.

Neither team could get much going in the first quarter with neither team scoring in the quarter and with Monticello punting the ball away to the Junior Bobcat 10 with 13 seconds remaining in the quarter.

Dumas’ drive would extend into the second quarter with Monticello’s Tyron Harris tackling the Junior Bobcat runner in the endzone for a safety to give the Junior Billies a 2-0 lead with 7:50 remaining in the half.

Monticello added a score before the end of the half.

After a false start by Monticello placed the ball on their own 47, the Billies moved the ball down to the Dumas 29 where Joseph Accelus broke free for a 29-yard score.

The Junior Billies would take an 8-0 lead into the break.

Monticello added their final score of the contest after a Luke Reid interception gave the Billies possession at their own 26.

Monticello covered the 74 yards on a series of runs with Jonah White getting the majority of the carries, scoring on a one-yard run.

Talyn Hoover added the two-point conversion to give the Junior Billies a 16-0 lead.

The score would hold to the final buzzer.

The Junior Billies will return home on Thursday, October 5, hosting the Hamburg Junior Lions with a 7 pm scheduled kick, with the 7th grade to start at 5:30 pm.

The Billies will travel to Hamburg on Friday.
