Monticello Planning Commission July 2022

The Monticello Advertising and Promotion Commission met July 25, 2022. Members in attendance were Michael Wigley, Kim Patel, Shannon Herman and Annette Taylor. Also in attendance were Mayor Paige Chase and Ashley Hogg. The meeting was called to order by Shannon Herman with Roll Call taken.

 

Shannon Herman presented the Minutes from the June 27, 2022 meeting. Mike Wigley made the motion the minutes seconded by Kim Patel and the motion passed unanimously.

 

Shannon Herman presented the Revenue Report.  Kim Patel made a motion to accept the Revenue Report as presented, seconded by Annette Taylor and the motion passed unanimously.

 

Meeting Agenda

Festivals - Independence Day Celebration

Shannon Herman presented a reflection of the event. A positive review of the event’s firework display, attendance and food truck success was discussed. Negatives were lack of volunteers for activities and positioning of food trucks due to the weather.

 

Festivals - Christmas Lights

Shannon Herman presented the contract for lighting from Southern Magnolia Landscaping. Contract cost for entire project is $19,000. A 50% deposit is required prior to installation. Mike Wigley made a motion that we accept the bid, sign the contract and agree to pay the down payment of $9,500, seconded by Kim Patel and the motion passed unanimously.

 

Welcome Signs Update

Shannon Herman presented that 911 addresses and GPS coordinates was been submitted to the mayor for signage. Entergy is waiting on permits for signs within city limits. Kellum Electric will begin work after permits are confirmed with Entergy.

 

Administrative Assistant Updates

Shannon Herman presented update on last interviewed applicants. With no candidates selected, the commission will continue to advertise for the position on Indeed. Contact will also be made with the School of Business at UAM.

 

Items to be Followed Up

1. Shannon contact mayor about permits.

2. Annette and Kim to contact Becky Phillips at UAM School of Business.

 

Next Meeting 

August 22, 2022 at 5:30pm at Hampton Inn. 

Moving forward, the commission will meet on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30pm.

 

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
