According to Monticello Police Chief, Carlos Garcia, the police department has arrested a wanted person, Justin C. Carter, 24, from Georgia. Carter applied for an open patrolman position via email from South Carolina. He arrived August 14, from Atlanta, Georgia.

Carter came to the police department and verified details for the physical fitness test on August 15. After he arrived, there were some discrepancies in his physical appearance from his background check.  These discrepancies led to the discovery of his actual identity and nationwide warrant from Georgia.

Carter met Monticello Police Department at the Monticello High School track to perform the physical fitness test for pre-employment. Officers allowed Carter to perform the test and immediately took him into custody. Carter is awaiting transport to the state of Georgia.
