Pirates announce postseason All-Conference Football selections

FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE selections announced by the Drew Central Pirates for the 2023 Football Season were Jace Watt, Luke Phillips, Kalani Collins, and Jayden Jones. Watt would become the starting quarterback for the Pirates after an injury to then starting quarterback Tre’Bennett Fuller, and would lead the Pirates to their conference win at Lake Village to qualify the PIrates for the 3A State Playoffs. Phillips completed his senior season as one of the leading players on defense as well as a prime receiving target for Watt. Collins would lead the PIrates in rushing this season posting several 100 yard games. Jones was moved up to the senior high team before the start odf the season and has earned a first teamm selection as a freshman. Jones was also one of the leading rushers for the Pirates as well as being one of the leading kick returners for the team and a staple on the defensive side of the ball.

SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE selections included Tre’Bennett Fuller who was the Pirates starting quarterback as a sophomore until an injury against Fordyce sidelined him. Zaylan Gold who was a staple on the offensive line this season. Tyler Harnaday was one of the leaders on the defensive side of the ball until an injury sidelined him for several games this season. Brent Hornaday was an all-around player, playing as a receiver on offense, one of the leading tacklers on the defense, and also seeing time on kick and punt returns. Zae’Vion Bullard was also one of the key defensive players for the Pirates as well as having playing time at wide receiver, and Hunter Phillips who was another one of the Pirates leading players on the defensive side of the ball.
