Pirates fall to Curley Wolves 14-8 in 3A-4 Regional Tournament

Entering into the 3A-4 Regional Tournament as the highest seed in school history, a second seed from the 3A-8 conference, the Drew Central Pirates would face off against the Prescott Curley Wolves in the first round of the Regional Tournament on Thursday, May 4.

Drew Burton would get the start on the mound for the Pirates shutting the Curley Wolves down in the inning.

Nate Cooper led off the bottom of the inning with a single for the Pirates and after a ground out, Burton would put Drew Central on the board with a two-run home run. 

Jase Watt would connect for a double with a single by Will Watson that would score Watt for a 3-0 lead. 

Prescott got a run in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 3-1 but it would be the top of the fifth inning that would be the downfall of Drew Central’s tournament play as the Curley Wolves would score 10 runs in the inning to take an 11-3 advantage. 

Drew Central would score five runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 11-8 but Prescott would add two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to take the 14-8 win, eliminating Drew Central from postseason play. 

The Pirates would finish the season with an overall record of 10-7 with a conference record of 10-4 and a second place finish behind Camden Harmony Grove in the 3A-8 Conference.
