Turnovers cost Lady Billies in fourth quarter against McGehee

The Lady Billies led the Lady Owls of McGehee for most of their contest on Tuesday night, but turnovers would cost the Lady Billies in the fourth quarter as the Lady Owls would score a come from behind win at Dan Coston Fieldhouse. 

Monticello would get out to a 10 point lead after the first quarter, outscoring the Lady Owls 15-5 in the first quarter. 

McGehee outscored the Lady Billies in the second quarter, but the Lady Billies would hold a 25-18 advantage at the half.

Monticello would outscore McGehee 14-13 in the third quarter to hold an eight-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

McGehee would take advantage of  Monticello turnovers in the fourth quarter to over take the Lady Billies to hold on to a 49-47 come from behind victory.

Leading the way for Monticello was Shakyra Binns with 20 points followed by Camyhia Lewis with nine points and Zariyah Gaston with eight points. 

Gemma Walker added five, Aunesti Jackson with three, and Zariyah Thompson with two.

The Lady Billies will hostDrew Central on Friday in the annual “Showdown in M-Town” with the games beginning at 5 pm with the junior boys playing first.
