The Monticello Billies opened the 2026 Billie Baseball campaign on Monday evening at Monticello, hosting the Camden Fairview Cardinals.
Momnticello would send Jon Luke Brotherton to the mound for the home season opener.
Brotherton would start things off by getting a ground out to start the inning followed by a Camden single.
Brotherton struck out the next batter before allowing another single that scored a Camden run.
The inning would end for Brotherton on his second strikeout of the inning.
The Billies would get on the board in the top bottom of the third inning.
Jackson Hines and Luke Fakouri would lead off with walks, Hines would score on a ground out by Luke Hairston.
Fakouri would score on a wild pitch to give the Billies a 2-1 lead.
Danner Loyd would be hit by a pitch and would later score on a wild pitch for the Billies final run of the inning for a 3-1 lead.
Monticello would add three more runs in the bottom of the third after runs by Jerimiah Philley, Hines, and Fakouri gave the Billies a 6-1 lead.
Camden would come back to score two runs in the top of the fourth to cut the Monticello lead to 6-3 with the Billie sadding two in the bottom of the inning to extend it to 8-3.
After Camden scored on run in the top of the fifth inning, the Billies would put the game away in the bottom of the inning scoring six runs in the inning to get the “Run Rule” shortened contest 14-4.
Brotherton would get the win for the Billies after 3.1 innings pitched allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three.
The Billies went 3 for 17 on the day at the plate.
The Billies will travel to Arkadelphia on Thursday for a 3 pm scheduled contest.
