The Monticello Diamond Billies played three non conference contests this past week in preparation to begin 8-4A Conference play on Thursday, March 20 at home.
Hosting the White Hall Bulldogs at home on Thursday, March 13, the Billies would start Tye Guthrie on the mound.
After a scoreless first inning, the Billies would get two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Rohan Patel would lead off the inning with a walk and after a strikeout by Blaine Hayden, Guthrie would draw a walk to move Patel to second.
Danner Loyd would pinch run for Guthrie and Patel and Loyd would score in the inning for a 2-0 lead.
The Billies would add a third run in the bottom of the third after a single by Guthrie scored Jon Luke Brotherton.
White Hall would score single runs in the next three innings to tie the contest at three and would get their final two runs in the top of the seventh inning to get the 5-3 victory.
The Billies would have a one day turn-around, travelling to Magnolia to face the Panthers on Friday, March 14.
Jagger Hines would get the start on the road and would fall behind early after allowing five runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Monticello could not get their offense going against Magnolia as the Panthers would shut out the Billies over seven innings, holding Monticello to two hits in the contest.
Magnolia would add three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 8-0 lead, which would be the final score.
Hudson Harvey would replace Hines on the mound, however all eight runs would be credited to Hines who pitched for 3.2 innings allowing eight runs on eight hits, striking out three, and walking seven.
Harvy would throw two innings allowing one hit and striking out one batter.
Monticello would travel to Camden on Monday, March 17, to face the Camden Fairview Cardinals for the second time this season.
Monticello would get a run in the top of the first inning, but Camden would take the lead in the bottom of the inning after scoring two runs for a 2-1 lead.
The Billies would get a big inning in the top of the third inning after Hudson Harvey reached on an error, Laytn Nichols would connect for a triple to score Harvey.
Guthrie would hit a double and Loyd would enter as the pinch runner and would score on a single by Luke Hairston.
Monticello would record back to back doubles by Hayden and Brooks Harvey to add two more runs for a 6-3 lead.
Monticello added two more runs in the top of the third and a single run in the top of the fifth inning to take a 9-2 advantage.
Camden would get three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the Billie lead to 9-5.
Monticello got a single run in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to 10-5 but the Cardinals would come back in the bottom of the inning to score three runs but Brooks Harvey would get the Camden batter to ground out to end the contest with Monticello holding on to the 10-8 win to improve to 3-4 overall on the season.

The Billies and Lady Billies will each be in action on Thursday to begin the conference season with each team hosting the Hamburg Lions.
