Billies dominate Eagles 48-7 to set up showdown with DeWitt

The Monticello Billies took care of business on Friday night against the Crossett Eagles in a dominant, 48-7, win over the Eagles to set up a significant showdown on Friday night in the Billies final regular season contest against the DeWitt Dragons.

Against Crossett, the Billies would defer to the second half after winning the coin toss.

Crossett would punt on their first possession, with Monticello turning the ball over on an interception on their first possession.

Curtis Barrow would get the first Billie turnover on Crossett’s next possession on an interception to give Monticello possession at the Monticello 42.

Zaedin JOnes would move the ball into Crossett territory on his first carry with a 15 yard run to the Crossett 43.

The Billies would move the ball to the Crossett nie with Jackson Hines taking the ball in for the score.

Joseph Rojas would add the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

After forcing Crossett to punt, the Billies next drive would extend into the second quarter with Monticello getting a touchdown on the drive on a five yard run by Jayden Rhodes. 

Rojas added the extra point for a 14-0 lead.

Monticello would go on to score four more touchdowns before the end of the half on a 12 yard touchdown reception by Jax Rawls from Tye Guthrie, a five yard run by Joseph Accelus, a 35 yard interception return by Blaine Hayden, and a six yard run by freshman T. K. Hoover

Rojas added the extra points to give the Billies a 42-0 lead at the half.

Crossett would get a score in the second half on an interception return and the Billies would add a score in the third quarter on an 11 yard run by Caleb Ewell.

The Billies would take a knee to set up the 48-7 final score.

The Billies will now face the DeWitt Dragons on Friday night in the final game of the regular season in a contest that could have serious playoff seeding implications.

The winner will secure the second seed out of the 8-4A Conference.
