The Monticello Billies entered their final regular season contest against the Crossett Eagles needing to come out victorious to secure their spot in the 4A-4 Regional Tournament.
A loss by the Billies would give the Hamburg Lions the fourth seed with a win would place Monticello in the tournament for the first time in two seasons, having the advantage of the tiebreaker over Hamburg.
Christian Webb would get the Billies on the board first with a three-pointer with 5:32 on the clock.
JOseph Accules would add a freethrow to give the Billies a 4-0 lead with 4:33 remaining in the quarter.
Monticello would go on to outscore Crossett 10-6 in the quarter.
The Billies would take control of the contest in the second quarter.
Jagger Hines would start the quarter by connecting on his third consecutive three pointer as the billies would outscore Crossett 12-4 to take a 22-10 lead heading into the halftime break.
Crossett would cut into the Billie lead in the third quarter.
The Eagles would be able to pull within five points heading into the fourth quarter after outscoring the Billies 16-9 in the third to trail 31-26 heading into the fourth quarter.
With Crossett looking to play spoiler and the Billies trying to secure their spot in the Regional Tournament, the teams would go back and forth in the final quarter of the contest.
Monticello would get the offense that the team needed to advance to the postseason, outscoring the Eagles by a single point, 17-16, in the quarter to take a 48-42 win.
The Billies would have three players reach double-digits with Christian Webb scoring 13, Jagger Hines with 12, and Joseph Accules with 10.
With the win the Billies will enter the 4A-4 Regional Tournament as the fourth seed and will face the number one seed from the 7-4A, the Magnolia Panthers.
Magnolia is undefeated in conference play and has lost one contest this season. holding an 18-1 record.
Tipoff is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 pm at the Billie Arena.
