The Monticello Lady Billies and Billies began 8-4A Conference play on Friday, January 17, hosting the Hamburg Lions at the new Billie Arena.
The Lady Billies would take to the court first to begin the night.
Hamburg would take control over the opening tip but it would be the Lady Billies that would get the first points of the contest on a two pointer by Niyyah Collins.
The teams would go back and forth in the first quarter with Hamburg taking a five point lead at the end of the quarter, 15-10.
Monticello would begin the second quarter scoring the first six points on three pointers by Zariyah Gaston and Chyna Daniels.
The Lady Billies would outscore Hamburg in the quarter 20-8 to take a 30-23 lead at the half.
Monticello would continue to hold the advantage after three quarters of playing taking a 42-36 lead into the fourth quarter and would go on to victory with a final score of 55-51.
Niyyah Collins would lead the way on the scoreboard with 15 points followed by Zariyah Gaston with 13 and Genesis Freeman with 10.
Chyna Daniels finished with nine points, Anniyah Smith with six, and Ryah Ridgell with two.
For the Billies, Monticello would get the first three points of the contest, going on to take a 12-8 lead in the first quarter.
Hamburg would take the lead in the second quarter but Jagger Hines would connect on three three-pointers to tie the contest at 26 heading into halftime.
Monticello would outscore Hamburg 16-11 in the third quarter to hold a 42-37 lead heading into the fourth quarter after seven consecutive points scored by Joseph Accelus..
Monticello would continue to lead Hamburg throughout the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lions 22-9 in the final quarter to take the 64-46 win.
The Billies would have three players reach double digits in scoring with Joseph Accelus scoring 18, Peyton Strickland with 14, and Jagger Hines with 12.
Rohan Patel finished with 8, Christian Webb with seven, Jaden Shaw and Terrion Steward with two points and Keilyn Greene with one.
