The Monticello Billies finished the regular season this past week with three consecutive victories.
On Monday, February 16, hosting the Crossett Eagles in a game that had to be rescheduled from January 30 due to winter storms that left ice and snow on the ground and highways for more than a week.
Coming off a loss on the road to Star City, 62-45, on Friday, February 13, the Billies would get back in the win column on Monday with a 70-57 win over the Crossett Eagles.
Returning on Tuesday to Billie Arena for Bille Senior Night, the Billies took to the court after the Lady Billies, hosting the Warren Lumberjacks who had defeated the Billies back on February 3, by two points, 53-51.
Warren would get on the board first to begin the contest with the Billies answering the Lumberjack score by going on an 11-0 run.
Jayden Shaw got things going for the Billies with the first three points of the contest for Monticello.
Christian Webb would get the next four points, followed by two from Joseph Accelus.
Peyton Strickland would finish the 11-0 run with a pair of free throws for the 11-2 lead.
Strickland would add another freethrow with Shaw getting the final two of the quarter to give Monticello a 14-5 lead.
Warren would outscore the Billies in the second quarter 11-10, but the Billies would take a 24-16 lead at the break.
The Billies would come back in the third quarter to outscore the Lumberjacks 10-7 for a 34-23 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Billies would continue to lead the Lumberjacks, taking the quarter 17-12, for the 51-35 win.
Monticello would end the regular season on the road on Thursday night with a 63-49 win over Crossett to secure a third place 8-4A Conference finish with an overall record of 10-17 and 6-4 in conference play.
The Billies will advance to the 4A-4 Regional Tournament in Nashville as the third seed and will face Nashville on Thursday, February 26, at 5:30 pm.
