The University of Monticello Blossom basketball team is in the win column in conference play after posting an overtime victory over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, 76-69.
The win over Ouachita also snapped a three game skid.
The final loss of the skid came in Thursday night's contest on the road in Searcy against Harding in an 84-61 loss to the Bison.
Returning to Steelman Fieldhouse on Saturday to face Great American Conference opponent, the Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers, the Blossoms would see Ouachita take control of the opening tip but after a missed three by Ouachita, the Blossoms would get on the board first with two point shot by Alindsey Long.
Ouachita would go on to take a double-digit lead in the quarter, taking an 11 point advantage, 20-9, at the buzzer to end the first quarter.
Kennedee Shelton would get the first points of the second quarter for the Blossoms on a three pointer to cut the Ouachita lead to eight points, 20-12.
The Blossoms would cut the lead to five points twice in the quarter.
A jumper by Haliegh Crews cut the lead to 21-16 and a three by Kelsey Blakemore would cut the lead to 27-22 but Ouachita would increase the lead to 10 by the end of the half.
UAM would battle back in the third quarter to trail by one point, 45-44, heading into the fourth quarter.
Both teams would hold the lead in the fourth quarter with Bailey Harris tying the contest at 62 on a freethrow to send the contest into overtime.
Kelsey Blakemore would start the overtime period with a three to give the Blossoms the lead and they would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the contest to take a seven point, 76-69, overtime victory.
Kelsey Blakemore led the Blossoms on the scoreboard with 21 points followed by Kennedee Shelton with 19 and Bailey Harris with 17.
Alindsey Long added eight, Nicole Weaver and Ella Mask each scored four, Haliegh Crews with two, and Cha’Myrean Ellis with one point.
