Coming into Saturday’s contest against the Southwestern Oklahoma State Lady Bulldogs, the UNiversity of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms had lost nine consecutive contests with their last win coming on November 25, 2025, with a 59-50 win on the road over Mississippi College.
Since that win, the Blossoms began Great American Conference play, dropping eight consecutive contests.
Returning to Steelman Fieldhouse on Thursday, January 15, hosting the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Lady Rangers, the Blossoms hoped to stop the losing streak in front of the home crowd fans.
The Blossoms would keep the score close through the first quarter, trailing NWOSU 17-14.
The Lady Rangers would outscore the Blossoms in the second quarter by a single point, 21-20, holding a 38-34 lead heading into the halftime break.
The Lady Rangers would increase their lead to double-digits in the third quarter, ending the quarter outscoring the Blossoms 21-9 in the quarter for a 14-point, 58-44, lead heading into the fourth quarter.
NWSOU would continue to lead the Blossoms in the final quarter with their biggest lead being 15 points for the 77-62 victory handing the Blossoms their nine consecutive loss.
Leading the way for the Blossoms was Alyssa Batton with 20 points followed by Brilynn Findley with 18 and Alindsey Long with 10.
Taleigha Ealy and Jena Warden scored four points, Opal Hardy with three, Keira Williams with two, and Nicole Weaver with one point.
Returning to Steelman Fieldhouse on Saturday, hosting Southwestern Oklahoma State University, the Blossoms for most of the first quarter, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 22-14 in the quarter.
SWOSU would take the second quarter 13-12, with the Blossoms holding a 34-27 lead heading into the break.
The Blossoms would take the third quarter 21-11 but SWOSU would outscore the Blossoms in the fourth 21-16 with the Blossoms taking the win 71-59.
Alindsey Long would lead the way with 23 points with Alyssa Batton scoring 20 and Keira Williams with 10.
Brilynn Findley scored eight, Nicole Weaver with four with Ella Hamlin and Opal Hardy with three points each.
Alindsey Long’s 23 points pulls her within three points of reaching the career milestone as a Blossom, scoring 1,000 career points.
Long will have the opportunity on Thursday night, January 22, when the Blossoms host Southern Arkansas University to reach the career milestone in front of the hometown Blossom fans.
Tip-off against the Muleriders is set for 5:30 pm at Steelman Fieldhouse.
