The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms picked up their fourth Great American Conference win on Saturday with an overtime win against Arkansas Tech at Steelman Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Blossoms snapped a four game losing streak that began back on January 11 on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
In that contest, Southeastern would get the first points of the contest on a three-pointer and would lead throughout the first quarter with their biggest lead being 15 points before ending the quarter with a 12 point, 24-12, lead.
The Blossoms would pull within five points several times during the second quarter, and would take the quarter 18-16 with Southeastern holding a 40-30 lead at the break.
The Second half would go similar to the first half with Southeastern taking the third quarter 27-22 and the Blossoms taking the fourth quarter 18-13 with Southeastern holding on to a 10 point, 80-70, win.
Bailey Harris would lead the Blossoms in scoring with 16 points followed by Alyssa Batton with 11 points and Haleigh Crews with 10.
Kelsey Blakemore added nine, Kennedee Shelton with eight, Nicole Weaver with seven, and Ella Mask with six.
Camille Pritchard finished with two points and Cha’Myrean Ellis rounded out the scoring with one point.
The Blossoms would take to the road for the next three contests, travelling to Alva, Oklahoma to face Northwestern Oklahoma State University on January 16.
The Blossoms would take a first quarter lead, 14-11, but Northwestern would come back to take the second quarter 17-9 for a five point, 28-23, lead at the half.
Northwestern would continue to lead throughout the remainder of the contest taking a 17 point, 74-57 win.
Bailey Harris and Camille Pritchard would lead the way with 10 points each followed by Alindsey Long with nine points.
Cha’Myrean Ellis and Haliegh Crews each scored six, Alyssa Batton with five, Kennedee Shelton, Kelsey Blakemore, and Ella Mask with three, and Nicole Weaver with two.
The Blossoms would remain in Oklahoma for their next contest , moving to Weatherford, Oklahoma to force Southwestern Oklahoma State University in what would be their third consecutive loss, 63-48.
Bailey Harris would lead the Blossoms with 17 points in the contest.
The Blossoms next stop would take them to Magnolia, Arkansas to face Southern Arkansas University in their first of two overtime games for the week.
The Blossoms would take the first quarter advantage with a three point, 18-15, lead.
Southern Arkansas would come back in the second quarter, to outscore the Blossoms by three, 19-16, to tie the contest at 34 heading into the halftime break.
Southern Arkansas would come out on top in the third quarter with a four point lead, 49-45, after taking the quarter 15-11.
The Blossoms would hold a four point lead with 1:14 remaining in the contest on a three by Alindsey Long, but Southern Arkansas would score the final four points with seconds remaining to tie the contest at 59 to force the overtime period.
Southern Arkansas would hold the lead for most of the overtime period with UAM tying the game at 66 with 18 seconds left but Southern Arkansas would connect on a two with three seconds remaining to take the 68-66 win.
Returning to Steelman Fieldhouse on Saturday the Blossoms would find themselves in another overtime contest against Arkansas Tech.
Trailing 28-24 at the half, UAM would come back to hold a 41-40 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but the Golden Suns would outscore the Blossoms 15-14 in the fourth to tie the contest at 55 but it would be UAM’s Bailey Harris that connected on a jumper to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Blossoms would get the lead, holding on to take the contest by three points, 63-30 to pick up their fourth conference win of the season and improve their overall record to 9-9.
