The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms got their first Great American Conference series win this past week defeating the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers two games to one.
Beginning the series on Friday, March 20, with a scheduled double-header, the Blossoms would go down 1-0 in the top of the second inning.
UAM would get on the board in the bottom of the third inning.
Ashlynne Vote would single to center to score Jolie Bazan and Maddie Moore.
Kylie Bonicelli singled to right-center to score a run to give the Blossoms a 3-1 lead.
NWOSU would add a run in the top of the tying run in the top of the sixth inning,
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Lainey Tippen would connect on a solo homerun to give the Blossoms the lead for the final time in the contest to set up the 4-3 win.
Makenzie Martin would improve her overall record to 5-6 with the win for the Blossoms.
NWOSU would come back in the second game of the double-header to tie the series 1-1.
The Rangers would trail 1-0 until the top of the seventh inning, scoring three runs in the inning, holding the Blossoms scoreless in the bottom half to take the 3-1 win to set up the final game of the series on Saturday, March 21.
In the final contest of the series, Ronnie Johnson would get the start for the Blossoms and would allow a run in the top of the first inning, but the Blossoms would come back to score three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Johnson would be relieved by Martin after the fourth inning, who would shut out the Rangers for the remainder of the contest with the Blossoms securing the win 3-1.
Johnson would be the winning pitcher improving to 2-2 on the season.
The Blossoms will travel to Searcy this weekend for a three game series with Harding beginning on Friday at 4pm.
