The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms and Weevils completed their two game road trip in Oklahoma with their second Great American Conference loss to Oklahoma Baptist University on Thursday, December 5, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Taking the court first was the Blossoms who were coming off an opening conference season loss to Southern Nazarene.
In a close first quarter, Oklahoma Baptist would maintain the lead for most of the quarter with the biggest point margin being five points.
The Blossoms would end the quarter scoring the final four points to trail by one, 18-17.
The Blossoms would score the first six points of the second quarter to take a three point lead but Oklahoma Baptist would come back to retake the lead and would go on to finish the half with a 10 point, 37-27, lead.
Oklahoma Baptist took their biggest lead with 3:33 on the clock in the third quarter, a 15 point lead.
The Blossoms would cut the lead to six points by the end of teh quarter to trail 54-48.
Oklahoma Baptist maintained their lead for the remainder of the contest with UAM cutting it to one point late in the contest but would fall by six points, 70-64.
With the loss, the Blossoms dropped their second consecutive contest to have an overall record of 5-3 and 0-2 in GAC play.
For the Weevils, Oklahoma Baptist would take the opening lead and not relinquish it in the first half, eventually closing the half with an 18 point, 38-20, after leading by as much as 20 points.
The Bison continued to hold their lead for the remainder of the contest with their biggest lead of the game coming with 11:35 remaining in the contest with a 25 point, 59-34, lead.
The Weevils would chip away at the Bison lead, but could never get the lead to fall under double-digits as the Bison would take an 18 point, 74-56, victory.
With the loss, the Weevils fall to 3-5 overal and 0-2 in the GAC.
The Blossoms and Weevils will complete their three game road games on Thursday, December 12, in Searcy to fave Harding UNiversity with the Blossoms beginning at 5:30.
Both teams return home for their final home game of the year, hosting Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday, December 14.
Tipoff is set for 1 pm.
