Bob Wellenberger, 70

Posted

Bob was the second son of John Augustus Wellenberger, Jr. and Marjory Thomasson Wellenberger. Bob was born December 24th, 1949, in Girard, Kan. and died May 27, 2020, in North Little Rock.

He graduated from Monticello High School in 1968 and attended the University of Arkansas where he graduated in 1972. He would finish law school in Little Rock and pass the Arkansas Bar in 1976. In 1974 he married his very significant other and his best friend, Carolyn Ann Adcock Wellenberger.

He took on the role of dad to two very precocious little boys, Robert Jr. And Jon Matthew. Bob and Carolyn were married for 41 years before her untimely passing September 9, 2015. Bob was a father those two boys will never forget. He would always allow you to have your say or opinion and then tell you how you were wrong. Intelligent and strictly sardonic, but when he smiled you knew it was genuine. A constant challenge for two boys to emulate. Bob provided when needed and supported when he could.

He was a brother you wanted to punch, but also wrap in a bear hug. He was loved by his grandchildren Chase, Catie, and Lance.

Bob was an entity. He could be distant and remote, obstinate and proud, all qualities to be loved and loathed. His was a storied life strewn with plenty of mile markers. If you were lucky enough to have traveled with him then you know the spots. We, those traveler's left behind, will remember those stops with each story we share. Brothers, Paul and Peter; sons, Robert and Matt and their wives Savanna and Carrie; and the grandchildren, Chase, Catie, and Lance will miss him deeply.
Bob's ashes will be buried beside his beloved Carolyn on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. Please join us as we celebrate Bob's life.
