Camden Fairview defeats Lady Billies, Billies on Tuesday night

The Monticello Lady Billies and Billies hosted the Cardinals and Lady Cardinals of Camden Fairview on Tuesday night at the new Billie Arena in a scheduled non conference contest. 

The Lady Billies would take to the court to get things underway with the Lady Cardinals winning the opening tip.

Camden would get out to a lead but the Lady Billies would battle back behind Niyyah Collins’ eight first quarter points to trail by four, 18-14, after the first quarter.

The point spread would remain the same in the second quarter with the Lady Billies trailing by four at the half, 30-26.

The second half was controlled by the Lady Cardinals as they outscored  Monticello 26-9 in the third before defeating the Lady Billies by 31 points, 76-45, at the end of regulation.

For the Billies, Camden would score the first three points of the contest before Jagger Hines scored the first five Billie points of the night. 

After a slow first quarter, the teams were tied at 10 heading into the second quarter of play.

The second quarter also remained close as the Cardinals held a five point, 24-19, lead at the half.

Monticello could not get anything going in the third quarter with several turnovers that led to Cardinal points.

The Cardinals would begin the third quarter by going on an 8-0 run to set the tone for the quarter.

The Cardinals outscored the Billies 23-7 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 21 points heading into the fourth quarter.

Camden remained in control in the fourth quarter, outscoring Monticello 15-11 to take the 62-37 victory.

Monticello will travel to McGehee on Friday, December 13, for a 5:30 starting tip to face the LAdy Owls and Owls.
