The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevil Baseball team has gotten off to a good start to the 2026 Great American Conference season with consecutive sweeps.
Beginning GAC play on Sunday, February 15, playing in a double-header on the road in Bethany, Oklahoma, against Southern Nazarene University, the Weevils saw the opening series pushed back to Sunday due to storms coming through Oklahoma on Friday and Saturday.
In game one, the Weevils would get a run in the first inning, four runs in the sixth inning, and one run in the seventh inning to open GAC play with a 6-3 win.
Returning for the second game of the double-header, The Weevils would score eight runs in seven innings getting three in the second, one in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one in the seventh for the 8-0 win.
Hunter Heath and Nathan McManus would combine for the seven inning shutout with Heath getting the win.
The final game of the series would be played on Monday, February 16.
UAM would give up eight runs in the contest but would explode for 20 runs in the 20-8 win to complete the series sweep.
After dropping a non conference contest on the road at Delta State, 18-17, on Wednesday, the Weevils would return home to host Oklahoma Baptist University for the second GAC series of the season.
Playing the first game on Friday, February 20, the Weevils would trail 6-3 in the top of the fifth, but would score the next 13 runs for the seven inning 16-6 win.
Returning on Saturday for a double-header beginning at 12 pm, the Weevils see SNU go up 8-6 after three innings but would come back to score two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three runs in the ninth for the 13-9 win.
In the second game of the double-header, after allowing a run in the first, UAM would get four in the second with SNU tying the contest in the third.
The Weevils would add one in fourth, nine in fifth, and two in the sixth to complete the series sweep with a 16-7 win in seven innings.
