The Drew Central Lady Pirates took a step toward a top three finish in the 8-3A Conference standings this past week after a home victory over the Dumas Lady Bobcats at home on Tuesday night.
Dumas would control the opening tip and would get on the board to begin the contest.
The Lady Pirates would get their first points with 6:13 on the clock on a two by Amari Lucas.
KZ Gipson would score the next three Lady Pirate points on three made free throws, going 3 for 4.
Dumas would take the lead scoring the next four points to hold an 8-5 lead.
Drew Central would score the next four points to end the quarter with a 10-8 lead.
Dumas would take the lead in the second quarter after outscoring the Lady Pirates 13-5 in the quarter to hold a six point advantage, 21-15, at the half.
Returning from the break, the Lady Pirates would get eight points from Chloe Anderson as the Lady Pirates outscored Dumas 15-11 in the quarter to cut the Lady Bobcats lead to two points, 32-30, heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Pirates would produce their highest point output in the contest.
Drew Central would outscore the Lady Bobcats 22-13 in the final quarter to take the contest by the score of 52-45.
Chloe Anderson would lead the way for the Lady Pirates with 16 points with Caroline McRae adding 12 points.
Amari Lucas added nine, KZ Gipson scored seven, and Kayln Miller added five.
Alexis Woods scored two and Samari Youngblood rounded out the scoring with one point.
Returning to action on Friday night, February 6, on the road at McGehee to face the Lady Owls, the Lady Pirates would hold a three-point lead after the first quarter, outscoring McGehee 13-10.
McGehee would score 10 points in the second quarter, outscoring Drew Central 10-8 in the quarter but would trail the Lady Pirates 21-20 at the half.
McGehee would score 20 points for the third consecutive quarter, outscoring the Lady Pirates 10-7 to hold a two-point lead, 30-28, heading into the fourth quarter.
Both teams would score their highest points in a quarter in the final quarter with McGehee outscoring the Lady Pirates 18-15 to take the contest by five points, 48-43.
Chloe Anderson led the Lady Pirates with 14 points, Amari Lucas added 11, and Kayln Miller with 10.
Caroline McRae would score three points, KZ Gipson and Jolie Lloyd adding two each, and Samari Youngblood rounding out the scoring with one point.
With the loss, the Lady Pirates fell to 7-3 in 8-3A Conference play, sitting in the third position in the conference standings behind McGehee at 9-0 and Dumas at 9-2.
DeWitt sits at fourth with a 5-6 record followed by Rison at 3-7, Lakeside at 2-8, and Helena with a 0-9 record.
Drew Central will wrap up the regular season at DeWitt Friday.
