Drew Central set to host 3A-4 Regional Tournament beginning Wednesday

The Drew Central School District is set to host the 3A-4 Regional Tournament beginning on Wednesday, February 26, and running through Saturday, February 28.

The tournament will consist of eight teams with the top four seeds from the 3A-7 Conference facing off in first round action with the top four seeds from the 3A-8 Conference.

Opening up Regional play in the girl’s bracket, the number one seed from the 3A-8, The Dumas Lady Cats (25-7; 9-3) will face the fourth seed from the 3A-7, Centerpoint (12-11; 10-4) on Wednesday at 4 pm.

In the boy’s bracket, 3A-8 District Champion McGehee (13-13; 7-5) will face Fouke (17-10; 11-4) who finished fourth in the 3A-7 District Tournament at 5:30 pm on Wednesday.

From the 3A-7, in the girl’s bracket, Fouke who finished the regular season with a 18-4 overall record and a 13-1 league record will face off with the fourth seed from the 3A-8, DeWitt (17-4, 5-7) at 7 pm.

Back to the boy’s bracket, number one seed Genoa Central (19-3; 12-2) will play the fourth seed from the 3A-8 the Lakeside Beavers (13-11; 8-4) in the final contest on opening night at 8:30 pm.

Heading into Thursday night, and the continuation of the first round matchups, 3A-7 second seed, Genoa Central (22-10; 10-4) will start the day’s games on the girls bracket facing tournament host and third seeded Drew Central Lady Pirates (17-10; 9-3) at 4 pm.

The Lady Pirates entered the tournament after securing a second seed in the 3A-8 District Tournament, but would lose in the semi-final game.

The Lady Pirates would fall to the eventual District Tournament Champions the Dumas Lady Bobcats, 64-39.

Following the girl’s game, the boys take to the court at 5:30 pm with the 3A-7 second seed, the Centerpoint Knights (13-13; 9-5) facing the Drew Central Pirates (17-6; 10-2) who finished as the 3A-8 Conference Champions but lost in the semi-final contest of the District Tournament, falling in their second consecutive contest. 

The Pirates would lose in the semi-final game to eventual District Tournament Champions, the McGhee Owls.

McGehee defeated the Pirates by a single point, 50-49.

Centerpoint and Drew Central are scheduled to take the court at 5:30 pm.

Closing out the first round of the girl’s bracket will be the second seeded McGehee Lady Owls (25-5; 12-0) facing the third seed from the 3A-7, the Bismarck Lady Lions (23-6; 11-3) at 7 pm.

The final contest of the boy’s first round bracket will see the second seeded DeWitt Dragons (17-12; 7-5) facing Bismarck (16-6; 13-1) out of the 3A-7 at 8:30 pm.

The top four seeds from the Regional Tournament will advance to the 3A State Tournament to be held at Osceola beginning on March 3 , 2026.
