Gary Laron Murphy, 64

Gary Laron Murphy, 64, of Monticello, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024, at his home. He was born June 7, 1960, in Monticello to the late Huey Earl Murphy and Geraldine Bodiford Murphy.
He was a retired truck driver, United States Army National Guard Veteran and was of the Assembly of God faith.

Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, watching football, gardening, mowing his yard and just being outdoors. He was also a huge Arkansas Razorback fan and Donald Trump supporter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two step fathers-in-law, Harold Caldwell and Thomas Paul Williams; and two brothers, Barry Murphy and Neal Murphy.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Veronica Murphy of Monticello; three children, John Edward Murphy (Sheigh), Gary Don Murphy and Crystal Michelle Verdun (Joseph) all of Monticello; three brothers, Johnny Murphy (Pam), Michael Murphy and Danny Murphy; grandchildren, Nathaniel Murphy, Gage Murphy, Gracie Murphy, Madison Murphy, Hunter Murphy, Aiden Murphy, Brytani Murphy, Audra (A.J.) Murphy and Wesley Murphy; one great-grandchild; a special friend, Marty Burgess; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. There was a visitation Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed funeral services in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Carrington, Sr., Benjamin Briney, Darrell Meier, Cody McCloud, D.J. Murphy and Danny Carrington.
