After falling on the road 16-14 at Fordyce a week ago, week two would not be any easier for the Junior Billies in their first home contest of the season hosting who many considered one of the best Junior Owl teams from McGehee in recent memory.

Monticello would win the opening coin toss and would defer the ball to the second half.

Crews Preston would kick the ball away to get the contest started with McGehee getting a 10 yard return to start the contest at their own 40.

McGehee would work their way into Monticello territory but two holding penalties and a one yard loss on a tackle by Kellan Dickerson would force the Junior Owls to turn the ball over on downs.

Monticello could not get much offense going on their first possession being forced to punt the ball away with McGehee taking over at their own 46.

The Junior Owls would punch the ball in on three consecutive run plays and added the two-point conversion with 7:56 remaining in the half to take the 8-0 lead.

The Junior Billies would turn the ball over on downs on their next possession and would force McGehee to punt on their possession with Bo Hobbs blocking the punt and Jayshawn Woods covering the ball to give the Junior Billies possession at Owl 37.

Neither team would get in the endzone for the remainder of the half with McGehee leading 8-0.

Monticello would tie the contest with 3:27 remaining in the third quarter on a three yard run by Dax Bowman and a two-point conversion.

McGehee would retake the lead in the fourth quarter 16-8.

Monticello would get a touchdown to pull within two points, 16-14 with 2:52 remaining on a seven yard run by Preston.

After forcing McGehee to turn the ball over on downs, Monticello would cover 46 yards with Preston taking the ball in with 13 seconds to take the 20-16 lead.

The Billies would force an incomplete pass to take the win 20-16.

Monticello will return to face DeWitt on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
