Junior Pirates fall at home to McGehee Junior Owls 36-26

The Drew Central Junior Pirates  would play host to the Junior Owls of McGehee on Thursday night. 

After cheering the 7th Grade Pirates to victory over the 7th Grade Owls, the Junior Pirates would take the field.

Drew Central would win the opening coin toss and elected to receive the football to start the contest.

McGehee would get the first break of the contest on the kickoff as the ball would get away from Ky’un Jacobs with McGehee recovering the ball at the Pirate 25.

McGehee would score on the drive to take a 6-0 lead with 6:09 remaining in the quarter.

Drew Central would drive the field on their first drive of the contest reaching the McGehee two yard line as the quarter ended and would turn the ball over on downs to begin the second quarter on an incomplete pass.

McGehee would drive 98 yards for their second score of the contest, adding the two-point conversion to take a 14-0 lead.

Drew Central would score on their next drive with Jacobs scoring his first touchdown of the night on a 46-yard run to cut the lead to 14-6.

Drew Central would regain possession on an interception by Ayden Cochran at the Pirate 48, returning the ball to the McGehee 11.

Jase Cruce would add a Drew Central score to cut the lead to 14-12 at the half.

McGehee would extend the lead to 22-12 to start the third quarter, but Drew Central's seven yard touchdown run from Jacobs for a 22-18 score.

McGehee added another score and two-point conversion to extend the lead to 30-18 in the fourth quarter. 

McGehee added one more score in the fourth to increase the lead to 36-18 with 4:10 remaining in the contest.

The Pirates added one more touchdown in the contest on a 61 yard run for his third score of the contest. 

The Junior Pirates added a two-point conversion on a run by Cruce to set up the final score of 36-26. 

Jacobs would rush for 184 total yards with three touchdowns in the game with runs of 61 and 50, and 54 yards.
