Weevils fall in third consecutive game with 42-17 loss at East Central

The University of Arkansas at MOnticello travelled to Ada, Oklahoma on Saturday to face the East Central Tigers for their fifth Great American Conference contest of the season.

The Weevils entered the contest having dropped their last two contests. both losses to nationally ranked teams in Harding and Ouachita Baptist.

East Central would enter the contest looking for their first win of the 2024 season.

UAM would win the coin toss and would defer to the second half.

Dylan Duhon would kick the ball off to get the contest underway with the ball going into the endzone to give East Central possession at their own 25.

East Central would be forced to punt on the opening drive with UAM taking possession at their own 20 yard line.

The Weevils would also be forced to punt on their opening drive of the contest with Duhon’s punt being returned into UAM territory but a holding penalty would bring the ball back to the ECU 48.

The Tigers would get on the board with a touchdown with 3:07 remaining in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.

The Tigers would extend their lead to 14-0 on their first drive of the second quarter.

The Tigers would go up three scores with 6:11 remaining in the half to take a 21-0 lead.

UAM would get on the board on their next possession after a 20-yard pass to Royal Williams from Demilon Brown.

Duhon added the extra point to cut the lead to 21-7.

ECU would add two touchdowns in the third quarter with UAM’s Tanner Steenbock connecting on a 27-yard field goal.

ECU would take a 35-10 into the fourth quarter.

ECU would get their final score to begin the fourth quarter on a 73-yard run by Cade Searcy.

UAM would get a final touchdown on a one-yard run by Brown with 10:30 remaining in the contest to set up the final score of 42-17.

UAM will return home to face 2-3 Southeastern Oklahoma State University for Homecoming.

Kickoff is set for Saturday at 2 pm.
