Lady Billies continue to lead 8-4A Conference after home wins

The Monticello Lady Billies continued to be on top of the 8-4A after finishing the first half of the conference season with home wins over Warren and Crossett.

The Lady Billies would welcome the Warren Lady Jacks on Tuesday, April 7, and would send Addi Frazer to the circle to begin the contest.

Warren would lead off with a double and would score the first run of the contest on an error.

The Lady Billies would tie the contest in the bottom of the first after Bliss Becker connected on a solo homerun to center field.

Monticello would get three more runs in the inning after a three run shot by Kylie Lane that scored Nora Rodriguez and Ashley Hales.

The Lady Billies would hit three more  homeruns in the contest with a solo home run by Addi Frazer in the bottom of the third and a two run home run by Joanie Jeffers in the same inning.

Libby Kingston would connect for the final homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning on a grand slam that gave the Lady Billies the “Sportsmanship Rule” win, 16-2.

Returning on Friday, April 10, hosting the Crossett Lady Eagles, the Lady Billies would send Macey Stell to the center of the circle.

Stell would strike out the leadoff batter before allowing a single, but Kingston would turn a double play on the next hit to end the inning.

After a groundout, Bliss Becker would draw a walk and would score on a triple by Addi Frazer but Frazer would not remain on third long as Ashley Hales would connect for a homerun that brought Frazer home.

Monticello added two more runs in the inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Crossett would get three runs in the top of the third inning but the Lady Billies added two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run home run by Libby Kingston.

MOnticello would put the contest away in the bottom of the sixth inning after consecutive doubles by Mia Scogin and Kingston.

After the first out, three singles and another double would help the Lady Billies to the 13-3 win.

The Lady Billies moved to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Monticello will host Watson Chapel on Thursday at 5 pm.
