Lady Billies defeat Crossett

The Monticello Lady Billies picked up their fourth win of the season on Friday, February 10, at home hosting the Crossett Lady Eagles.

It would be the second victory over the Lady Eagles this season. 

Crossett controlled the opening tip off and scored the first four points of the contest before Aunesti Jackson got the Lady Billies on the board with a three pointer at the 5:01 mark.

The Lady Billies would outscore the Lady Eagles 11-5 in the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lady Billes would continue to lead the Lady Eagles throughout the quarter.

Genesis Freeman would score five of the Lady Billes 13 second quarter points to help Monticello outscore Crossett 13-8 in the quarter to close the half leading by 11-points, 24-13.

Crossett attempted a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Billies 16-8 in the quarter to pull within three points, 32-29, heading into the fourth quarter. 

Monticello and Crossett would continue to be competitive throughout the fourth quarter with Monticello holding the edge in the quarter, 15-12, to take the 47-41 win.

Zaniyah Thompson led in scoring with 14 points followed by 13 points by Genesis Freeman.

Aunesti Jackson scored seven, Ryah Ridgell with five, and Zakayla Sanders with four points, and ShaRyah Ridgell scoring three points.
