The Monticello Lady Billies would get some help from a few freshman players that moved up to the Lady Billie Varsity team after completing their Junior Lady Billie season with a regular season and District Tournament Championship.
Finishing the regular season with three consecutive home games, the Lady Billies would enter the contests looking to maintain their position in the conference to keep their spot in the 4A-4 Regional Tournament a reality.
Facing the Star City Lady Bulldogs on Friday, February 14, the Lady Billies would have a better showing than the first time the teams faced a few weeks prior at Star City where the Lady Bulldogs to a 14 point win.
On February 14, the Lady Billies would escape the Billie Arena with a three point, 51-48, victory.
On Tuesday, February 18, the Lady Billies would welcome in the Warren Lady Lumberjacks, who had defeated the Lady Billies by 20 points back on January 28.
A win over the Lady Jacks would guarantee the Lady Billies their place in the Regional Tournament.
Playing at home, with the addition of the freshman players, would be the boost that the Lady Billies would need, as Monticello would get redemption from the earlier loss, taking an 11 point, 54-43 win.
Hosting the Crossett Lady Eagles for their final regular season contest, The Lady Billies would open the contest on a 6-0 run before Crossett would get on the scoreboard.
Monticello would take control of the contest early, outscoring the Lady Eagles 15-3 in the opening quarter.
Anniyah Smith would lead the Lady Billies in the second quarter, scoring seven of the teams 10 points, outscoring Crossett 10-7 in the quarter to take a 25-10 lead at the half.
The Lady Billies would continue to outpace the Lady Eagles, taking the third quarter 9-3 and finishing the contest by outscoring Crossett 8-5 in the fourth to take the 42-18 victory.
Anniyah Smith would lead the way on the scoreboard for the Lady Billies with 15 points.
With the win, the Lady Billies finish the regular season with an8-15 overall record and a 4-6 conference record finishing fourth in the conference and qualify for the 4A South Regional Tournament to be held at the Billie Arena as the fourth seed from the conference.
The Lady Billies will face the number one seed from the 7-4A Conference, the Nashville Lady Scrappers.
Nashville and Monticello will be the first contest of the Regional Tournament with tipoff scheduled for 4 pm on Wednesday, February 26, in Monticello at the Billie Arena.
