The Monticello Lady Billies travelled to Star City to face the Lady Bulldogs in a contest that could determine the 2025 Conference Championship.
Star City defeated the Lady Billies back on April 4 in a one run contest, 4-3.
The loss would be the only loss for Monticello in the season thus far.
Star City dropped a conference contest on April 15 at Crossett, 8-6, to make Monticello and Star City the only one-loss teams in the conference.
Monticello would come into Tuesday's contest on a week without play after Watson Chapel forfeited their scheduled contest on Friday, April 19.
After three innings of scoreless ball, the Lady Billies would get on the board first in the contest in the top of the fourth inning after Ashley Hales connected on a solo home run to center field to give the Lady Billies a 1-0 lead.
Star City would come back in the bottom half of the inning to score two runs to take a 2-1 lead.
After a scoreless fifth inning, the Lady Billies would get back on top of the scoreboard.
Alaina Lyle would lead the inning off with a single.
After the first out of the inning, Hales would be intentionally walked to put runners on first and second.
After the second out of the inning, Macey Stell would connect on a single that would score Grace Ferguson, pinch running for Lyle, and Hales with Stell being out at second for the third out of the inning but the Lady Billies would go up 3-2.
Star City would not get a run across in the bottom of the inning and after a scoreless inning in the top of the seventh by Monticello, Lyle would get Star City out in order to get the 3-2 win.
With the win, the Lady Billies improve to 7-1 in conference play on the season with Star City falling to 5-2.
The Lady Billies have two conference contests remaining on the schedule with both games being at home.
Warren will come to Monticello on Thursday, April 24, and Crossett comes to Monticello on Tuesday, April 29.
The Lady Billies need to win the remainder of their conference contests to take the outright conference championship.
