Lady Billies score six runs in fourth inning to defeat Star City

The Lady Billies returned home on Friday, April 3, hosting the Star City Lady Bulldogs in their second 8-4A Conference game of the season.

Coming into the contest, the Lady Billies would enter the game with a 9-2 overall record on the season, a 1-0 conference record after defeating Hamburg on the road on March 19, defeating the Hamburg Lady Lions 20-6.

For Star City, the Lady Bulldogs would enter the contest with a 7-5 overall record and a 0-1 record in conference play.

Macey Stell would start in the circle for the Lady Billies and after a lead off single by the Lady Bulldogs, Stell would get the next batter to fly out followed by consecutive ground outs to get out of the inning.

Star City would get the Lady Billies out in order in the bottom half of the inning.

The Lady Bulldogs would get on the board first in the top of the second inning after a pair of singles, a couple of walks, and a sacrifice bunt score Star City two runs in the inning for a 2-0 lead.

Ashley Hales would lead off the bottom of the second with a walk followed by Kiley Lane reaching on an error.

Joanie Jeffers would fly out to center field for an RBI, scoring Hales to cut the lead to 2-1 before the final two outs of the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, after a lead off out, Stell would reach on a walk followed by the second out of the inning.

Halle Ross would double to score pinch runner Nora Rodriguez to tie the contest 2-2.

Libby Kingston would connect for a two run home run to put the Lady Billies up 4-2.

Bliss Becker reached base on an error followed by Addi Frazer reaching on an error that scored Becker.

Hales would draw a walk  followed by a single by Lane that would score Frazer and advance Hales to third.

Hales would score on a passed ball to put the Lady Billies up 7-2.

Star City would come back in the top of the sixth to score three runs in the inning to cut the Lady Billie lead to 7-5.

Monticello would get a single runner in the bottom half of the inning on a walk by Frazer.

Star City would lead off the top of the seventh with consecutive singles, but Frazer, in for relief of Stell, would strike the next two batters out and get the final Lady Bulldog batter to fly out to end the contest giving the Lady Billies a 7-5 victory.

The Lady Billies will host Crossett on Friday, at 5 pm, and will host Hamburg on Tuesday at 5 pm.
