Lady Pirates defeat Rison Lady Wildcats for first win of season

The Drew Central Lady Pirates returned to the field on Tuesday, March 31, after Spring Break to face the Rison Lady Wildcats at home for their first 8-3A Conference contest of the season.

The Lady Pirates would enter Tuesday’s contest  looking for their first win of the season after losing their first six contests of the year.

Caroline McRae would get the start for the Lady Pirates against Rison and would allow one run in the top of the first inning to fall behind 1-0.

McRae and Rylie Goudy would lead off the bottom of the inning with consecutive walks followed by a single by Neicy Lucas.

Amari Lucas would connect for a single to score McRae and Goudy for a 2-1 lead.

Rison would come back in the top of the second inning to score two runs to take a 3-2 advantage but the Lady Pirates would tie the contest in the bottom of the inning.

Rison would take the lead in the top of the fourth inning after scoring a single run to go up 4-3.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Naicy Lucas would lead off with a single and would steal second before Amari Lucas grounded out.

Peyton Withers would connect on a double to score Neicy Lucas followed by a single by Presley Withers.

After the second out of the inning, Perri Withers would single to score Peyton and Presley Withers to give the Lady Pirates a 6-4 lead.

Rison would get a run back in the top of the sixth inning to cut the Lady Pirate lead to 6-5.

McRae would lead off the bottom of the sixth inning with a walk.

Goudy would fly out for the first out of the inning followed by a triple by Neicy Lucas to score McRae to increase the Lady Pirate lead to 7-5.

The Lady Pirates would add their final run of the contest after Neicy Lucas scored on a steal of home plate for the 8-5 score.

McRae would sit the Lady Pirates down in order to end the contest giving the Lady Pirates their first win of the season and their first win in conference play.

The Lay Pirates will return to action on the road on Thursday in Dumas at 4:30 pm and at Warren on Monday.
