Lady Pirates snap four game skid with  road win over Lakeside

The Drew Central Lady Pirates got back in the win column this past week with a conference win on the road in Lakeside against the Lakeside Lady Beaver.

The Lady Pirates had lost four consecutive contests, dating back to a December 30 loss to Warren in the Commercial Bank Holiday Tournament.

It would be the second loss of the season to the Lady Lumberjacks for the Lady Pirates with Warren defeating Drew Central in the tournament 59-38.

The Lady Pirates would fall in their next contest in a 56+42 loss at home to Fountain Lake on January 6.

Drew Central returned to conference play on Friday, January 9, travelling to Dumas to take on the Lady Bobcats.

Trailing 23-19 at the half, the Lady Pirates would come back to outscore Dumas in the third quarter 16-9 to take a 39-32 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, Dumas was able to double-up the Lady Pirates, 12-6, to take the contest 44-41.

Returning home to face McGehee on Tuesday, January 13, the team would play even though the first quarter, 12-12.

McGehee would get the advantage in the second quarter, 14-10, to hold a slim 26-22 lead at the half.

Each team would score eight points in the third quarter with the Lady Pirates trailing 34-30 heading into the fourth quarter.

McGehee would have their best scoring outing of the contest after outscoring the Lady Pirates 22-12 in the fourth to take the contest 56-42 handing the Lady Pirates their fourth consecutive loss.

Travelling to Lakeside on Friday night, both teams would score 14 points in the first quarter, but the Lady Pirates would take control of the contest in the second quarter, outscoring Lakeside 21-7 for a 35-21 halftime lead.

Drew Central would outscore the Lady Beavers in the third 16-6 with Lakeside taking the fourth 20-13 with the Lady Pirates winning 64-48.

Drew Central will host Helena-Central on Friday, January 23, with games starting at 5 pm.
