Lady Pirates win three consecutive games to improve to 5-4

The Drew Central Lady Pirates improved their overall record to 5-4 after putting together a three-game win streak with two wins coming at the Mini State Classic hosted by Drew Central.

The Lady Pirates would begin their season with a 62-16 win over Crossett on November 18 followed by a home opening win over Junctions City, 54-44, on November 20.

The Lady Pirates dropped their next four contests to Bismark, Dierks, Warren, and Riverview to enter Thursday's contest against Star City with a 2-4 record.

The Lady Pirates would control the opening tip against Star City and would get the first points of the contest by Chloe Anderson under the basket.

Anderson would add three more points to score the first five points of the contest. 

Star City would go on an 8-0 run but the Lady Pirates would outscore the Lady Bulldogs 13-10 to end the first quarter.

Drew Central would take control of the contest by the end of the second quarter behind three three-pointers by Amari Lucas to help the Lady Pirates outscore Star City 14-6 in the quarter to hold an 11-point lead, 27-16, at the half.

The Lady Pirates would maintain their momentum in the third quarter, matching their second quarter total with 14 points with Star City scoring nine with Drew Central having a 41-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Star City would have their best quarter scoring in the fourth after outscoring the Lady Pirates 19-11 with Drew Central holding the 52-44 win.

The Lady Pirates would return to action on Friday night, hosting Alpena.

Drew Central would control every quarter behind Chloe Anderson’s 26 points for a 67-35 win.

Returning on Saturday for their final game of the Mini State Classic, the Lady Pirates would pick up their fifth win of the season after a 41-37 win over Parker’s Chapel.

The Lady Pirates will return home on Friday, December 10, hosting the Rison Lady Wildcats.
