Mackie Ovida Hood Boyd, affectionately known as ''Tete'', 88, of Star City,  passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Dalton's Place in Star City. She was born December 9, 1935, in Drew County to the late Mack Hood and Nola Mae Roberson Hood.
She was the widow of Thomas Darwin Boyd, Sr., a retired Burlington Industries and Drew Central Schools employee, and was of the non-denominational faith. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Aaron, Johnny, Robin and Jimmy Hood; three sisters, Pat Hood, Norman Sivils and Reatha Wright; and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Boyd.
She is survived by two children, Linda Boyd Gipson (Phillip) of Alexander City, Ala. and Thomas Darwin Boyd, Jr. of Monticello; three grandchildren, Allen Douglas Wright, Jr., Michelle Wright and Lauren Boyd; eight great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of the Dalton House employees for taking care of Mackie and for loving her.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at United Pentecostal Church in Monticello. There was a visitation from 1:30-3:30 p.m. preceding the funeral service at the church. Burial followed in Holly Springs Cemetery.
