Monticello, Drew Central set for “Showdown in M-Town” Friday at Billie Arena

With football season officially over, the city of Monticello moves on to the biggest rivalry on the hardwood, the “Showdown in M-Town,” to take place on Friday night, December 19 at the Billie Arena beginning with the Junior Pirates taking on the Junior Billies at 5 pm.

The “Showdown” format will remain the same, whichever team wins 2 out of 3 contests will claim the “Showdown in M-Town” trophy that has been held by Monticello the previous two seasons.

Last season the Junior Lady Billies put Monticello in the win column first with a 30-23 win followed by the Lady Pirates making it even, 1-1, after a 58-49 win over the Lady Billies.

The Billies would seal the deal with a 45-42 win over the Pirates to keep the trophy at Monticello.

After the Junior Pirates and Junior Billies, the Lady Billies and Lady Pirates will take to the court.

Coming into the contest, the Lady Billies currently have an overall record of 1-9 with their only win of the season coming agon a 55-25 win to begin the season over Central Arkansas Christian.

The Lady Pirates come into the contest with a 7-4 record with their losses coming on the road to Bismarck, Dierks, Riverview, and at home to Warren.

In their recent outings, the Lady Billies would fall to Dumas on Monday night to Dumas, 60-32, with the Lady Pirates defeating Rison on Friday, 57-22.

The Billies and Pirates will close out the night at Billie Arena in the final game of the “Showdown.”

The Billies come into the contest with a 2-8 record with both of their wins coming over the McGehee Owls, 54-40 and 59-56.

The Pirates will enter the contest with a 6-1 record with their only loss coming at home to Star City.

In their last outings, the Billies fell to Dumas, 61-43, and the Pirates defeated Rison, 79-35.

The “Showdown in M-Town” is scheduled to begin at 5 pm.
