Monticello, Drew Central teams set for postseason tournament play

The 2026 Spring sports regular conference season ended this past week with both Monticello and Drew Central teams qualifying for postseason tournament play.

For Drew Central, the Lady Pirates finished the regular season on Friday, May 1, with a 15-0 loss at DeWitt with the loss, marking the second consecutive conference loss, having fallen to McGehee 6-5 on April 27.

Witht he loses, the Lady Pirates finished fourth in the 8-3A Conference standings and will travel to Bismarck for the 3A-4 Regional Tournament to face the Smackover on Thursday. May 7, at 12:30 pm.

The Pirates would go 1-1 in their final conference contest, defeating McGehee 5-3 on April 27 and falling to DeWitt 2-0 on May 1 to finish third in the conference standings.

The Pirates will face the second seed out of the 7-3A Conference, Ashdown, on May 7, in Bismarck st 12:30 pm.

The Pirates and Lady Pirates need to win their first round games to qualify for the 3A State Championship Tournaments.

For Monticello, the Billies and Lady Billis would each end the regular seasons as the 8-4A Conference Champions.

For the Lady Billis it would be their fifth consecutive conference title and for the Billies it would be their first championship since the 2022 season.

The Lady Billies would finish the regular season on April 27 with a 15-0 win over Crossett.

The Lady Billies will be the number one seed in the 4A-4 Regional Tournament in Crossett facing the fourth seed from the 7-4A, DeQueen at 10 am Thursday.

The Billies secured their conference title on Friday, May 1, with a 10-5 win at Warren.

The Billies will face the fourth seed out of the 7-4A, Arkadelphia on Thursday at 10 am.
