The Monticello High School girls’ softball team will face the Warren High School Lady Lumberjacks in the state championship game on Friday, May 22, at Majestic Park in Hot Springs.

First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Monticello Coach BJ Jackson said the opportunity to compete for a state title is special for both programs.

“It is an honor for all of us,” Jackson said of both the Monticello and Warren softball teams.

Jackson said he expects strong community support at the championship matchup.

“It will be a good crowd there,” he said.

Jackson praised his team’s performance throughout the season and said the championship appearance is a reward for the players’ hard work.

“We have had a great season, and this is the reward,” Jackson said. “We are having a good year.”

He added that reaching the state championship game is the goal teams strive toward all season.

“This is what we work for,” Jackson said. “It is a privilege.”
