Coming off two consecutive wins, the University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils (2-3) would travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 11, to face the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison (1-4).
The Weevils would receive the ball after winning the coin toss to begin the contest but on their initial drive, OBU would get the first turnover of the contest after Tavion Faulk’s pass was intercepted by Loren Johnson.
OBU would punt on the drive with UAM taking over at their own 17 yard line.
The Weevils would move the ball downfield and into OBU territory with UAM reaching the OBU 12 on a six yard gain by Travelle Anderson as the first quarter ended.
After reaching the eight on two yard runs by Anderson and Faulk, Faulk would take the next snap and cover the eight yards for the Weevil score.
Charles Stinson added the extra point to give the Weevils a 7-0 lead.
OBU would tie the contest on their next possession with a touchdown and extra point.
The contest would remain 7-7 until the end of the half.
UAM would break the tie with 7:39 remaining in the third quarter after Chasden Collins caught the Faulk pass at the OBU 25, taking it into the endzone for a 47 yard touchdown reception.
Stinson added the extra point to give the Weevils the 14-7 advantage.
OBU would add to their scoe with 13:18 remaining in the contest on a 22 yard field goal by OBU’s Carter Lowry cut the lead to 14-10.
OBU would take the lead with 5:23 remaining in the contest after a one yard run by Chad Mascoe and an added extra point gave OBU the 17-14 lead.
UAM would have two more possessions in the contest with one ending in a fumble recovered by OBU and the final on an interception at the OBU nine to set up the 17-14 final.
UAM will return home on Saturday for a 2 pm kickoff against Ouachita Baptist University.
