The Drew Central Pirates. like the Lady Pirates, can finish no worse than fourth in the 3A-8, after falling to the McGehee Owls on Friday, April 25.
Jordan Jones would get the start for Drew Central against McGehee, and would fall behind early on in the contest as the Owls would get two runs in the top of the first inning to begin the contest.
The Owls would allow one Pirate runner in the bottom of the inning after allowing a walk to Cade Allison.
McGehee would add two more runs in the top of the second inning to increase their lead to 4-0.
McGehee would set the PIrates down in order in the bottom of the second inning, and would increase their lead in the top of the third inning, adding two additional runs to take a 6-0 lead.
Jacob Jones would get the Pirates on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Allison led off the inning with a walk and after the first out of the inning, Jones would connect on a single to score Allison to cut the lead to 6-1.
The Pirates would get another run in the bottom of the sixth inning after Allison led off the inning with a single, followed by two consecutive outs.
Braden Johnston would be hit by a pitch followed by consecutive walks to Jon Lawrenz and Brailyn Moore that would score Allison to make the score 6-2.
The Pirates final score of the contest would come in the bottom of the seventh inning after a ground out by Allison scored Colton Reed to set up the final score of 6-3.
With the loss the Pirates will finish conference play on Friday night at home against DeWitt and cannot finish any worse or better than fourth in the conference standings heading into the 3A-4 Regional Tournament to be held in Ashdown, beginning on Thursday, May 8.
As of now it looks like the Pirates first round match up at the Regional Tournament will be the host team, Ashdown, who is currently undefeated in conference with a 7-0 record and a 16-6 overall record.
The Pirates will wrap up the 2025 regular season on Friday night against the DeWitt Dragons at 4:30 pm.
