The Drew Central Pirates picked up their second 8-3A Conference win of the season to improve their conference mark to 2-1 after a strong performance at the plate from Kenlyn Endsley and a solid performance on the mound from Jacob Jones.
Jacob Jones would start on the mound for the Pirates and would get consecutive strikeouts to begin the first inning before getting the final batter out after a ground out to shortstop Hunter Griffin.
Endsley would lead off the top of the order for the Pirates with a single to begin the bottom of the first followed by a walk to Jon Lawrenz.
Griffin would ground out in a close play at first on the throw from the second baseman, but a run would score to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead.
After striking out the side, the Pirates would have their first two batters record outs followed by a single by Endsley and a walk to Lawrenz.
Griffin would connect for a double to score both runs to give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.
Dumas would cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the third inning,but Drew Central would score two runs in the bottom of the third and bottom of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 7-2.
Dumas would be held scoreless in the top of the fifth with the Pirates scoring five runs in the bottom of the inning to take the 10 run “Sportsmanship Rule” win, 12-2.
Endsley would finish the contest going 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Jacob Jones pitched the complete game allowing two runs on no hits, striking out 13 with three walks.
Hunter Griffin was 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored and would lead the team with a total of 6 RBI.
