Pirates move to 2-0 in 8-3A Conference play with win at Dumas

The Drew Central Pirates have begun the 2026 8-3A Conference portion of their schedule by winning their first two conference contests with a 3-1 win over the Rison Wildcats at home on Tuesday, March 31, to begin the conference season.

The Pirates would travel to Dumas on Thursday, April 1, to face the  Bobcats in their second conference contest of the season.

Cade Smith would lead off the contest for the Pirates with a single.

After a strikeout, Hunter Griffin would connect for a double that scored Smith.

A double by Jordan Jones would score Griffin.

Mason Maggard would connect for a triple to score Jones for a 3-0 lead.

Dumas would strike out the next two Pirate batters to get out of the inning.

Jordan Jones would take the mound for Drew Central and would strike out the side to end the first inning.

After a Trent Burton walk to begin the second inning followed by a strikeout, Smith would connect for a single followed by a walk by Braylin Moore.

Griffin would connect for a single that scored Burton.

Jones would fly out for an RBI that scored Smith.

Mason Maggard would connect for a double to score Aiden Jordan for the 6-0 lead.

Colton Reed would draw a walk to load the bases.

Jaggar Hays would connect for the Grand Slam to center field to put the Pirates on top 10-0.

Jones would strike out the first two Dumas batters to begin the bottom of the second with the next batter connecting on a single but would be out running the base paths for the third out.

Blayze Pevey would lead off the top of the third, being hit by a pitch.

Smith would connect on a double to score Pevey.

Moore would be hit by a pitch, followed by consecutive singles by Griffin and Jones for two more runs.

Griffin and Jones would steal third and second with Maggard drawing a walk to load the bases.

A walk to Reed would give the Pirates a 14-0 lead.

Drew Central would go on to score six more runs in the inning to take a 20-0 lead.

Jones would get the Bobcats out in order to end the contest.

The Pirates will return to conference play on Friday, April 10, hosting the McGehee Owls with game time set for 4:30 pm.
