The Drew Central Pirates travelled to Rison on Friday night to play spoiler and upset the undefeated Rison Wildcats on their Homecoming night.
The Pirates would come into the contest with one win on the season with a 47-7 victory over the Lakeside Beavers a week ago.
After the Homecoming festivities, Rison would win the coin toss and would receive the football to start the game.
Rison would recover the Pirate attempted onside kick at their own 49 and several plays later got the first score of the game on a Keyshawn Heard nine yard run.
Drew Central would fumble the ball on the Wildcat kickoff with Rison taking over on the Pirate 30.
Heard would score his second touchdown of the game on another nine yard run to give the Wildcats a 14-0 lead.
Drew Central would get on the board at the end of the first quarter.
Tre’Bennett Fuller would connect with Jayden Jones on a 74 yard pass to the Rison five.
The Pirates would lose yards to the 12 with Fuller connecting with Jones for a 12 yard touchdown reception.
After the extra point, the Pirates would get a turnover on the next Rison possession with Tyviance Wormley picking up a fumble, returning the ball 48 yards for the score.
The extra point was not successful as the Pirates cut the lead to 14-13.
The Wildcats would come roaring back, scoring two scores before the end of the half to take a 27-13 lead.
Rison would continue to put points on the board after the half, scoring four more touchdowns to set up the final score of 56-13.
Despite the loss, the Pirates still have a shot at the 2024 playoffs if they can secure at least two wins out of the final three contests.
The Pirates will host Barton this Friday night to celebrate Homecoming at 7pm.
Barton enters with the same conference record of 1-3.
