The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils kicked off the 2025 season on Thursday, September 4, travelling to Durant, Oklahoma to face the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm who was a preseason pick for fifth in the Great American Conference Coaches Poll with the Weevils being voted in the ninth position.
Southeastern would win the toss and would defer to the second half giving the Weevils the first possession of the contest.
The Weevils would be forced to go three and out after an opening series punt.
Southeastern would get on the board on their opening possession going 56 yards on 10 plays to take a 7-0 lead.
UAM would get a 15 return on the kickoff but would be penalized for holding, bringing the ball back to their own 10 yard line to start their second drive of the first quarter.
The Weevils would be forced to punt on the possession after three plays with Dylan Duhon’s punt travelling 45 yards on a fair catch at the Southeastern 43.
Southeastern would move the ball to the UAM 24 but would have to settle for a 41 yard field goal to take a 10-0 lead.
Dylan Cox would kick the ball away with Ahmari Cox fair catching the ball at the UAM 8.
The Weevils would enter Savage Storm territory for the first time in the contest on their next drive, extending the drive into the second quarter.
UAM’s Tavion Faulk would complete five passes on the drive before the drive stalled on the Southeastern 14 with UAM attempting a 30 yard field goal that would be blocked by Southeastern.
Southeastern added a second field goal on their next possession, taking a 13-0 lead after a successful 32 yard kick.
Southeastern would get off a 50 yard kick that was fair caught by Cox at the UAM 15.
UAM would be forced to punt with the Weevil defense forcing Southeastern to punt on their next possession.
The Weevils would get on the board on their next possession after a 44 yard touchdown pass from Faulk to Michael Lott.
Duhon’s kick would be blocked with UAM trailing 13-6.
Southeastern would score on the next possession to extend the lead to a 14 point advantage, 20-6 at the halftime break.
Southeastern would receive the ball to begin the second half and would extend the lead to 27-6 on their possession.
Southeastern would add another touchdown with 5:13 remaining in the third quarter after a five yard run by Levay Duncan and the extra point gave the Savage Storm a 34-6 lead.
UAM would start their next possession at their wn 25 yard line and on the first play of the possession, Tyler Webb would connect with Cox for a 75 yard touchdown pass.
Duhon would connect on the extra point to cut the lead to 34-13.
Southeastern would score two more times before the end of regulation on a 37 yard touchdown pass and a field goal for the final score of the contest for the 44-13 final.
UAM would utilize two quarterbacks with Tavion Faulk going 13 for 18 for 155 yards and a touchdown and Tykler Webb going 2 for six for 77 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
The Weevils will return to action on Saturday, September 13, hosting East Central at 6 pm.
East Central enters the contest 1-0 after defeating Ouachita Baptist Univeristy 24-22 at home.
