UAM Blossoms begin Volleyball season with 0-4 start at Kathleen Brasfield Invitational

The UAM Blossoms got the 2-25 Volleyball season underway this past week with four matches at the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational held in San Angelo, Texas.

In the opening match, on Friday, September 5, the Blossoms would go up against nationally ranked #2 Angelo State University. 

The Blossoms would fall 3-0 losing in sets 25--9, 25-8, and 25-14.

The Blossoms were led by Isnedy De La Rosa with three kills, Mia Smalls with six assists and 10 digs.

In the second match of the day, the Blossoms would face Colorado Mesa University, falling 3-0 with Colorado Mesa taking the sets 25-17, 25-12, and 25-13.

The Blossoms were led in the match by Sophia Grubbs with nine kills, Mia Smalls with an ACE and 14 assists, Jordan Wehr with 14 digs, and Brianna Converse with three blocks.

The Blossoms would return on Saturday for the final two matches of the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.

In the first match of the day the Blossoms faced Adams State, falling three sets 25-13, 25-15, and 25-16.

Mia Smalls recorded 21 assists, Jordan Wehr with 11 digs, Sophia Grubbs with nine kills, and Evalyn Dang and Jalen Scroggins with three blocks.

In the final match, the Blossoms would fall to Texas Permian Basin in three sets, dropping sets 26-24, 25-13, and 25-20.

Annie Hudson recorded six kills, Taylor Wilson with three ACES, Jalen Scroggins and Xaria Pearson with three blocks, Mia Small with 16 assists, and Jordan Wehr with 18 digs.
