The UAM Baseball season came to an end this past week in the first round of the Great American Conference Championship Tournament.
Entering the tournament as the third overall seed, the Weevils would face the sixth seed in Henderson State University, a team that had given UAM trouble this season winning 4 of 5 from the Weevils in regular season play.
UAM would fall behind 4-1 after three innings of play, but would cut into the Reddie lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring two runs to trail 4-3.
Henderson added three runs to take a 7-3 lead with UAM scoring four in the bottom of the seventh to tie the contest 7-7.
Henderson would get the go ahead run in the top of the ninth inning and would hold on to take the contest 8-7,
Facing elimination on Friday, facing Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Trailing 2-1 after four innings, the Weevils would score seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to take an 8-2 lead.
NWOSU would add three more runs in the contest, but the Weevils would go on to avoid elimination with a 13-5 win.
Returning on Saturday to face Southern Arkansas, the Weevils and Muleriders would enter the top of the fifth inning tied 2-2 with the Weevils exploding for nine runs in the top of the fifth to take an 11-2 lead.
UAM added two more runs in the top of the sixth with SAU scoring three in the bottom of the inning.
UAM would add one run in the top of the seventh and four in the eighth to take the 18-7 win.
UAM returned for the second contest on Saturday, once again facing Henderson State in an elimination contest.
UAM took a 1-0 lead after two innings and would go up 3-1 after the bottom of the sixth inning.
Henderson State would put up three runs in the top of the seventh inning and would go on to take the 4-3 win, ending the Weevils season.
The Weevils end the season with an overall record of 32-21 and a conference record of 21-12.
