Weevils complete sweep over Southwestern Oklahoma State

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Weevils welcomed the Bulldogs from Southwestern Oklahoma State University for a three-game series with a Friday double-header and the final contest on Saturday, beginning on March 13 at Union Bank Park.

In the first contest of the Friday double-header, Hunter Heath would get the start for the Weevils to open the series.

After allowing the Bulldogs to get out to a 4-0 lead through the top of the fourth inning, the Weevils would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a homer by Elijah Olaybal.

SWOSU added a couple runs to extend the lead to 6-1, but the Weevils would put up four runs in the bottom of the inning on a pair of homers by Eli Marvin and Darcy Barry, an RBI double by AJ Keely, and an RBI single by Gabe Kuttenkuler.

SWOSU added a run in the top of the seventh, but the Weevils would put six in the bottom of the inning, including the second homerun of the game by Marvin.

SWOSU would add one more run in the contest with UAM taking game one 11-8.

UAM would get their runs early in the second game of the double-header, putting up eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding another run in the bottom of the second to take a 9-0 lead.

SWOSU would get on the board in the top of the fifth inning with two runs and added a single run in the top of the seventh with UAM taking the 9-3 win.

Returning on Saturday for the final game of the three-game series, the Weevils would get a run in the bottom of the first on a Camden Tanner home run.

SWOSU would tie the contest in the top of the second with a homerun, but UAM would get four runs in the bottom of the second to make the score 5-1.

UAM added two more runs in the bottom of the third and three in the bottom of the fifth.

SWOSU would get a run in the top of the sixth before the Weevils added two final runs in the bottom of the inning to secure the 12-2 win.

With the win, the Weevils improve their overall record to 15-9, with a Great American Conference record of 12-3.

It would be the third series sweep of the season for the Weevils and their fourth conference series win.

Arkansas Tech holds the only conference series win over the Weevils at this point of the season.

The Weevils will travel to Alva, Oklahoma, this weekend for a three-game series with Northwestern Oklahoma State University, with a double-header beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. and the final game on Saturday at 12.
